Most caregivers become ill themselves, because they are giving up the best of themselves to the one whom they are trying to help. I hope after attending the Learning Circles, participants realize that they are not alone and that there are resources and a network of support to help them cover all the bases.
Darlene has more than 20 years of informal caregiving experience. She first took care of her mother after her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to undergo a mastectomy. She later cared for her father as he battled dementia and her brother-in-law, who suffered from a brain tumor. Today Darlene cares for her aunt, who is battling dementia.
